Program

Difficulty: Challenging
Duration: 5 h
Elevation: ~1500 m

The ascent from the Zadnjica Valley to Dom na Doliču is one of the most impressive high-mountain routes in the Julian Alps. It begins deep in the quiet, forested valley, surrounded by steep rock walls and the raw beauty of Triglav National Park. The trail climbs continuously, gaining more than 1500 meters of elevation — a true Alpine challenge that rewards every step.

As we leave the forest behind, the landscape becomes increasingly dramatic. The path traverses rocky ledges and exposed sections carved directly into the mountainside. These parts can feel airy, but the trail is safe, well-maintained, and secured where necessary. For many hikers, these moments are the highlight — a real taste of high-mountain terrain without technical climbing.

Higher up, the views open completely. The mighty Triglav rises above us, and the ridges of Kanjavec, Hribarice, and the Triglav Lakes Plateau stretch into the distance. The final approach to Dom na Doliču is unforgettable: a high-altitude world of rock, silence, and endless horizons.

The hut itself sits on a dramatic saddle beneath Triglav’s south face. It’s a place where you truly feel the spirit of the Julian Alps — remote, powerful, and deeply peaceful.

This route is perfect for experienced hikers who want a full Alpine day with real elevation gain, rugged terrain, and spectacular views.
