Lake Bled is Slovenia’s pride — a place every traveler wants to see at least once. What makes it so special? The lake itself with its Alpine backdrop? The island with its charming church? Or the medieval castle watching over the valley like an old guardian? You decide.
Pletna boat ride: We take a traditional wooden Pletna boat to the island. Operated by a single rower using two long oars, this ride is one of the most iconic experiences in Slovenia. Relax, enjoy the views, and soak in the peaceful atmosphere.
Free time: After the boat ride, we take a moment for coffee, beer, or the famous Bled cream cake. A short walk along the lake’s shore is always a good idea.
Bled Castle: We visit Slovenia’s oldest castle, perched dramatically 130 meters above the lake. The views are spectacular, and the museum inside offers a glimpse into the region’s history.
Lake Bohinj is Bled’s bigger, wilder brother — a place where nature still rules. Locals are proud of their heritage and protective of the landscape, and you will feel that immediately.
Savica Waterfall: We take a 20-minute walk uphill to reach one of Bohinj’s main natural attractions. The famous A-shaped waterfall drops 78 meters and is worth every step. If someone prefers to stay at the parking area — no problem. There are cafés, ice cream, and a souvenir shop.
Free time at the lake: After descending, we stop by the lake for a relaxed break — a walk, a moment by the water, or simply enjoying the calm of Slovenia’s largest Alpine lake.
