Prekmurje is quite different than the rest of the country. This is a unique region in northeastern Slovenia, known for its distinct cultural identity, diverse landscapes, and historical significance. Dialect is different and can be incomprehensible to other Slovenians. Region is separated from the rest of Slovenia by the Mura River, which gives the region its name (“Prekmurje” translates to “across the Mura”). It is special in many ways and definitely worth visiting.

From the historic Babič Mill and tranquil Lake Bukovnik to the panoramic Vinarium Tower, this tour combines heritage, countryside and the warm character of Slovenia’s northeast.
This mill is the only preserved floating mill on the Mura River that still operates and produces flour using traditional methods. Situated in a tranquil setting along the river and surrounded by nature, represents a perfect spot for enjoying the peaceful ambiance of the river. It actually is a symbol of the region and its agricultural history -and a local cultural gem.
As the rest of the region, this lake is also a peaceful place, where people can rretreat from urban areas and forget about their problems. Not among famous Slovenian lakes but a worhy one to visit – its charm lies in its pristine environment and the harmonious blend of water and forest. It would be fun to walk around (about 30 min) and enjoy the moment.
Some people also refer to it as the “Eiffel Tower of Prekmurje. The tower is 53.5 meters tall and in good weather offers the incredible 360° view of the colourful landscape to four! different countries (Slovenia, Croatia, Hungary and Austria). Its unique shape resembles a wine glass, paying homage to the area’s rich winemaking tradition. The top can be reached by climbing (240 steps) or by elevator and this means that it is accessible to all.
